Prime Care Community Services Ltd (“Prime Care”) scooped top honours for its exceptional achievement in Health and Social Care Training and Staff Development at the National Training Awards 2006.

Prime Care employs more than 130 full-time and part-time care staff and delivers social care services to over 300 older people living in their own homes along the East Sussex coast from Eastbourne to Brighton.

Run by UK Skills, on behalf of the Department for Education and Skills, The National Training Awards are the UK’s most prestigious accolade for excellence in training and people development – across all sectors.  This was the 20th anniversary of the National Training Awards which were set up to celebrate businesses, organisations and individuals that achieve outstanding success through training and development.

Summarising the reasons for the national award, the UK Skills press release says:

“Prime Care developed a wide range of health and social care related training aimed at care workers, supervisors, managers and administrators.  Courses were designed in accordance with Skills for Life and Skills for Care protocols to link with health and social care training and NVQ accreditation.  In partnership with local colleges and private trainers, a formal NVQ programme at levels 2, 3 and 4 was created, while senior management leadership training was outsourced to a university business school to plan strategy and business direction.  A dedicated in-house learning hub was subsequently created so that training could be cascaded internally.  Over the past three years, hundreds of individual and group training events have been delivered to the workforce, all the time reacting to external influences such as new legislation and local authority and service user requirements”.

Nicki Allen, Prime Care’s Quality & Staff Development Manager said of the awards:

“We see our award as validation of the huge effort invested in training and staff development over recent years. We support our staff to go the extra mile to deliver a person-centred service to our service users and a quality service to our local authority commissioners.  We are extremely proud to be judged independently as being one of the best in the country. This major award is great news for the social care sector as a whole.”
